Chef Will Menu

The Iron Chef cook off that Will won was a fund raiser for the Habitat for Humanity and Meals on Wheels.
The ingredients he had to use were Scallops, Prawns, Flat Iron Steak. He made an appetizer of Scallops and the steak was braised and slice thin, fanned in the middle of the plate with prawn and asparagus standing up in the middle with chutney dripped around plate. The dessert was home made ice cream with apples and Carmel sauce.

Will the Iron Chef

Sunday October 27th 2007

My son in law was one of six Chef's in the Bradenton, Sarasota area that was chosen to participate in the Iron Chef cook off last night in the Ritz hotel in Sarasota. He won hands down. I would of loved to have been there but the tickets were $160 a piece. So I savor the idea I get to eat dinner at his house when ever I want. Someday I will get to watch his own show on TV on the Food NetWork Channel, that's my hopes for him but until then I get to watch him cook on the Sarasota Channel 40 (ABC) on the first Tuesday of the month for 15 minutes. He has the TV personality and I love to watch him.
CONGRATULATIONS WILL, keep up the good cooking.

Tallin Russia

Here are some pictures of Tallin Russia. The buildings are so impressive and how well they are built. There again the building are hundreds if not thousands of years old.

After dinner on the plane, they gave each person a DVD player and head set and you have about 12 choices of movies and video's. They turn off the lights and gave each person a quart bottle of water, blanket and pillow and the great mask to block out lights and action around you. I choose to sleep and I did. Needless to say the Russian airlines has the right idea of service, Their employees on the plane speak Russian, German, English including the Pilots. The Pilot announces the flight pattern, weather in three languages.
When the sun rose over Ireland and the smell of coffee and breakfast cooking everyone was stretching and out came the hot towels to wipe your face and hands ans the linen was right behind that with several courses of breakfast, wow this is the way to travel for sure.First came the OJ, and individual porcelain salt & Pepper shakers and butter cup full of butter and bread dish with jelly. out comes the macaroni and cheese with pruchetti, fruit cup, cheese, toast, tea with lemon. I did not eat the mac and cheese, but I drank two cups of the most wonderful Russian tea. Now we are 30 minutes from landing in Moscow. Gwen came forward and sat next to me. Just as we exited the plane a wheel chair was brought for Gwen. The wheel chair was dinning room type chair with four wheels, no sides and a high back. I was laughing so hard inside and I told Gwen don't lean to far to the left or right or she would get stepped on. The gentlemen pushing the chair did not speak any English, so the airline pilot told him to take us to the Customs and the VIP room. He certainly did, we got to this flight of steps and he pointed to the top of the flight of which was 26 steps to a landing and 26 more to the next level. On all of these steps people were sitting because there were no benches anywhere in the airport but probably hundreds of Duty Free shops of all kinds. As Gwen started climbing the steps she had to ask people to move, they were just rudely watching her take one step at a time at the hand railing. We got to the top and went right to the VIP room and each had a bottle of water and sat in the most wonderful comfortable leather chairs and waited for our connecting flight in 4 hours.

The Russian Flight

This is where we met Bella the Russian ticket clerk. She set us up with the seating arrangement from NYC to Russia and on to Frankfort Germany. She said she would have to change our seating arrangement since we have wheelchairs. Gwen told her she ordered a wheel chair at the Frankfurt airport not during the flight so Bella made the necessary arrangements. When we boarded the plane they moved Gwen to seat 4-C because her original seat 1-A was broken. Bella had never mentioned the seat was broken and to look with a naked eye it did not look broken. I offered Gwen my seat, but she went to 4-C. Then Bella showed up to apologize to Gwen and in the mean time a young man in mid twenties sat next me in Gwen's supposedly broken seat. When Bella came forward to exit the plane she spoke Russian to the young man and gave him kisses on both cheeks, the European thing. Then another ticket agent showed up and gave the young man same greeting. So I figured they wanted Gwen's seat for him. When we took off and they started to serve drinks and food his tray was broken, and the seat would not tilt back, so the seat was broken and they moved him further back in first class.

Now begins dinner, Get this they put a white table cloth on each tray. Then the heated cloth to refresh you face and clean your hands. Champagne, two small appetizers, filoh dough filled with a veggie and cheese. Next the salad plate with two different fish sushi, an a deviled egg, a slice of cucumber with a cut of Brie and a cherry tomato on top cut in half. A Caesar salad ,next comes the white linen napkin over your lap. I only ate half of my salad and a good thing because the next course was hot cream of mushroom soup. The main course was salmon, with orkra and rice and a cheese sauce. Now I only ate half I was so full. Here comes dessert, pecan pie with fresh fruit around it. A blueberry, a strawberry, a raspberry repeated around the round pie. A cup of black Russian Coffee and a liquor. That was my first three hours of Russian flight six more to go. All the above served on linen, china, glass glasses. they offer you more liquor of which I declined, I could hardly breathe I was so full.

The pictures attached are of a church 2000 years old. It is just the most beautiful building. The Buildings in Germany are so soundly made the last for thousands of years, not 25 yrs like here in the US.

Germany sights

Germany was the most beautiful trip for me. I went two years ago but this trip was three weeks and first class on Aeroflot a Russian airlines. Let me tell you all the fun and great times we had.
August 13th, 2007

I arose at 5 am to prepare for the trip to the airport to fly to Germany. I waited until this am to change purses so I knew all was well and where it would be. The stretch Limo with my friend Gwen arrived 7:30 am. My suit case and purse were placed in the trunk and we were off to the airport. The purse I was carrying I borrowed from my daughter Leah that would hold a lap top computer if I wanted to travel with such. I just wanted to put my reading material and listening device and tickets and passport and stuff in one place. This case was so organized with all kinds of pockets I emptied my purse and put all the things I would need in all the proper places I thought. The limo driver drops us off at TIA and the sky caps approach to help with the luggage. I started searching for my passport. The sky cap came up to us, we told him I was searching for passport, so they walked away. I check each and every compartment to no avail. I could not find my ticket or passport so we called the limo driver and she had to pull over to the side of the road and check the trunk, NO it was not in the trunk. I called my sister to see if I left it laying on the table. She said she was going dumpster diving because she had taken the trash out and maybe it fell in the wastebasket before she closed the bag. I was panic stricken and breaking out in a swet and almost in tears, my blood pressure had to be over the top. This very pleasant sky cap came back about three or four times, he said sweetie calm down it must be there. I had emptied the purse out totally and could not find it and I check every area I thought and the gentle skycap came up and said calm down did you check this section and I go ahead I have checked every where, sure enough he put his hand in the section and came out with the passport and ticket. He said see you were too stressed. I gave him the biggest hug and he whisked us off inside and checked our baggage all the way to Frankfort German of which they are only suppose to go as far a New York because we were switching carriers in NY to a Russian Airlines.
Needless to say I gave Brian the biggest hug and a very large tip for all he did over and above his job. If you ever fly Delta out of TIA ask for Brian and tell him Bonnie mentioned his name and tip him good he deserves it.
Well from there we went to the Crown Room and guess what, Bonnie had three Bloody Marys and then we boarded for NYC.
The Pictures at the beginning of the blogg, the first is the town I was living in Hirshorn and the mountain roads we traveled on. More to come.........

A Great Day Off

Today is a great day Off because I'm done with all my usual clean house and do laundry chores, and now I am learning the process of putting pictures on a CD with music and hopefully I will be able to give these to my kids for Christmas and they will have them to show their kids and maybe their grand kids many years down the road. That has always been in my mind of how my grandparents lived and died but never knew, so now I'm dabbling in research of the past to make those CD's also. This should be very interesting since I still can not get my pictures in the middle of my Blog, it ended up on the side of the Blog that's why I tried a beautiful maple tree in full color, and it did not go where I had planned so I'm still practicing.

If it does I will give you a look into Germany from my view.

MY VIRGIN FLIGHT

My friend Phyllis has convinced me to start a blog and come into the 21st Century. I have just returned from three weeks in Germany and had so much fun and three CD's of pictures to post a couple I will have to get help because I tried and I have no idea where the picture went. So if you talk to one of your friends and they have a picture posted to their blog that they have no idea who it is, it just might be my lost attachment.

My other friend Tufenuf maybe able to help me when she returns home, so until I get much needed help this is my attempt to BLOG. While on vacation I lost 12 lbs and I ate healthy and drank at least two glasses of wine every night and still lost. It was life changing for me so I'm trying to keep up the good work.
